Description
Devons are recognized world wide for producing some of the finest beef off pasture alone. Devon cattle did not take part in the feedlot madness that has had a stranglehold on the American beef industry since WWII. This kept the breed firmly in the hands of Devon breeders who insures the integrity of the breed’s genetics. No breed has a purer genetic base than the Devon.
All orders come cut, individually wrapped, frozen and boxed from a USDA inspected professional butcher. Springfield Meat Co.

At Weeks Farm we want to ensure our customers have a positive experience, let us take some time to explain the value of purchasing a whole, half, or quarter cow.
The cost savings are not obvious at first glance. Since you’re paying one price for every cut of beef on the cow, it looks like you’re paying a lot more for some cuts, but remember that you’re also paying a lot less for other premium custom cuts of your choosing. See the example below for details.
When you buy your beef this way you know that you’ll be getting wholesale prices, supporting local farmers, getting the best quality natural grass fed beef raised right here in western New Jersey.
*DEFINITIONS:
- Live Weight = The walking around weight of the living animal.
- Hanging Weight = The weight of the butchered animal as it hangs in the cooler. This weight does not include the head, hide, hooves, blood and innards, which have been removed.
- Yield Weight = The net weight of the meat you will receive that is packaged and ready for your freezer. The reduced weight here is attributed to the cutting and trimming of fat, connective tissue, bone, etc. This weight varies depending on the cuts of meat included and other packaging options you choose. The industry standard is 60% of the hanging weight.
- Customers charged for the Hanging Weight, not the Yield Weight.
EXAMPLE:
- Live Weight of whole cow is 1500 pounds
- Hanging Weight of whole cow is 1000 pounds
